Solar Reserve 55 Exceptional Caribbean Rum Blend combines 3 to 8 year old Dominican Republic column still rums from Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos (AFD), featuring caramel, toffee, and vanilla notes, enriched by a 3 year old Jamaican pot still rum from a renowned distillery in Lluidas Vale, adding tropical fruit and a hint of signature funk. This blend is enhanced by adding one tenth of Solar Reserve 8, enriching its complexity and depth.

Solar Reserve showcases hand-selected Caribbean island rums, bottled without added sugar or caramel, reflecting the artistry of the distilleries. Both distilleries use locally grown sugarcane, prioritising sustainability by using renewable energy from sugarcane by-products, recycling water, and reducing waste. They emphasize eco-friendly farming, protect natural resources, and support local communities, blending tradition with modern environmental practices.

At Solar Reserve, sustainability drives our choices, from the distilleries we work with to the lightweight glass, recycled labels and closures we use, all helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

Sustainability

At Solar Reserve Rum Co we source our rums from distilleries with excellent sustainability practices and use locally grown sugar cane.

Our rum from the Dominican Republic distillery: Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos is one of the pioneers in the reuse of bagasse (sugar cane pulp remaining after the juice extracted) as a biomass fuel.  AFD has achieved production of 96 percent of their electricity used throughout the year from biomass cogeneration using the bagasse as well as solar panel power generation.

Our rum from Jamaican comes from a famous distillery in Lluidas Vale. Spanning nearly 10,000 acres, with 4,000 dedicated to sugarcane, the distillery benefits from a unique microclimate characterised by warm, humid days and cool, dry nights. This climate optimizes sugarcane growth, leading to premium cane used in rum production. The distillery stands out globally as it uses 100% of its estate-produced molasses, adding to the rum’s distinctive taste and authenticity.

The distillery takes sustainability seriously, with an onsite sugar factory where cane juice is extracted, clarified, and boiled, leaving molasses and cane sugar. This molasses is sent via underground pipes to the distillery for fermentation, creating a seamless, environmentally friendly production process.
